The purpose of this group is intended to help friends and family who are struggling with addiction. It is our mission to provide a place where people can discover who Jesus is through the Bible. By providing this knowledge, people can experience the freedom that Jesus promises. He said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life". He also said, "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free". It is our mission that men and women can find freedom.
Difference between AA and Arise
Our intention is not only to have weekly meetings, but to disciple men and women who are struggling with addictions. We believe weekly meetings can be helpful, but long-term discipleship is the model that Jesus demonstrated. The discipleship model is a long-term model and it's meant to promote growth of the mind, body, soul and spirit. The very things that Jesus told us were essential.
A Long-term (discipleship) program would be helpful to someone struggling with addiction. We have a nine month long program at Machias Christian Fellowship for men and women at "Arise", and a year long program at Calvary Chapel Orrington called "Seven Oaks" (for men), and "Blessed Hope" (for women).
Meetings are held on Monday nights at 7:00 pm at Machias Christian Fellowship (MCF).
